Welcome to the BSDaT Holiday Camp Website
HolidayCamp 2011 E-mail

This year we have something different... join us at the SoupKitchen in Okuryangava/Katutura where we brought some christmas gifts to 150 kids and will cook for them every sunday in December. It was very touching to see how most of the kids are terribly thin and you could literally see the hunger in their eyes. Samuel Kapepo is running this SoupKitchen since six years and they had to close for one month as he and his volunteers were exhausted cause the program runs twice a week during the full year!!!! A big job and a wonderful project and we very much hope, that we can keep up the good work that he and his team was doing during the year.

Check out the gallery and you will understand why we could not let this pass by and leave the kids without at least one proper meal per week for a full month, especially not December month with christmas included! It was a very spontaneous project and I cannot thank enough to all the helpers who equally spontaneous decided to volunteer with us the next five sundays :)

The BSDaT Holiday Camp will be again in December 2012. Check out here for upcoming news!

1. Junior Higland Games PDF Print E-mail

It has been a wonderful day on Monday, 17th of May 2010 when the 1st Junior Highland Games in Windhoek took place at the Multipurpose Youth Centre in Katutura. More than 120 children competed to become the strongest men and women and learned to use their growing strength in some unusual ways. Copied from the international adult games and customized for the kids, boys and girls between the age of 6 and 14 had to go through seven disciplines.
In the “Farmers Walk”, they had to walk rounds with two tree trunks in their hands and according to the rounds they made, they got different points. Other disciplines were “Pulling the caber”, “Putting the stone”, “Sheaf Toss”, “Tossing the Wellie”, “Hill Race” and a “Tug-O-War”. It is about having fun but also understand it as a serious competition where they can figure out the strongest one amongst them.
